The Role

  • The role covers a mixed caseload with the requirement for Community-based home and Aged care facility visits making up the majority of the work.

Job Description

  • Demonstrate advocacy of Vivir Core Values.
  • Assessment of physical, communication, psycho-social and cognitive skills of clients with a wide range of disability and impairments.
  • Assessment and prescription of assistive technical devices and equipment appropriate to the needs and goals of the clients.
  • Assessment of mobility and function and a prescription for the provision of appropriate mobility and functional equipment.
  • Assess and provide appropriate home modification recommendations aligned with Australian Standards to improve client safety and independence.
  • Development of individual, evidence-based treatment plans and goals to address any deficits identified in these areas ensuring best practice and the client's individual person-centred plan.
  • Communicate assessed needs clearly and precisely to the client and ensure funding organisation within appropriate time frames.
  • Liaise with families, specialist services and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Regularly review client treatment plans and goals.
  • Develop and implement programs, strategies and materials to enable clients to achieve their health and lifestyle goals as set by their individual person-centred.

To be Considered

  • Occupational Therapy Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent as approved by AHPRA – Full Registration
  • Registration with Australian Occupational Therapy Association Australia (OTA) is highly desirable
  • 2020 Flu Vac certificate.
  • Certificate of currency for Professional Indemnity Insurance.
  • A current driver’s licence and access to a reliable, registered and insured vehicle
  • Current AUS Police Check.
  • Australian Business Number (ABN).

Essential Criteria
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
  • 2-3 years experience of demonstrated experience working as Care Manager/ Clinical Care Coordinator
  • Current AHPRA registration and National Police Clearance
  • Exceptional clinical knowledge and solid understanding of current aged care legislation 
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills coupled with effective leadership skills.

Centre for Play Therapy is a growing private practice with office locations in Brisbane, Melbourne and Central Queensland. We are currently seeking a play therapist or counsellors/human services worker interested in training in play therapy.

We currently have a position for a fly in fly out staff member in Emerald, 3 days/week. Flights, car and accommodation provided. 2 days per week based in our Wellington Point office to make the role full time could be negotiated. 

Responsibilities include:
- Conducting individual play therapy sessions with children
- Conducting initial parent/ carer consultations and ongoing parent/ carer consultations
- Completing written reports on work conducted
- Assisting in conducting observations and reports related to family contact
- Providing evidence in court proceedings as required
- Engaging in team meetings and supervision on a regular basis
- Administrative tasks
- Maintaining confidentiality
- Maintaining the office spaces
- Providing in- home support including travel where required

To be successful you will have:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a human service related field including counselling, psychology, social work, teaching, occupational therapy, art therapy or similar
- Registration with the relevant professional association or body or ability to register
- Must be willing to undertake post graduate certificate training in child-centered play therapy unless already trained in this specific therapy
- Experience working with complex cases in the disability, trauma or child safey sectors is highly desirable

About you

  • Must hold an approved degree and full professional registration in Occupational Therapy

  • Current and unrestricted drivers licence with access to own vehicle
